Because it sits partway up the mountain with limited parking, many visitors prefer not to drive themselves, especially during winter when road conditions on the access route can change quickly.

Sunshine Village is accessed by gondola from the base parking area rather than driving directly to the resort, so transportation to and from the gondola base makes more sense for most visitors than trying to drive higher up the mountain.
